ART EDUCATION REDEFINED

happy face teaching.jpg

My name is Charity, and I am a graduate from Nazareth University with a M.A.Ed. Initial Certification and a B.F.A. in Art and Design with a minor in Art Therapy from Buffalo State University. I am a well-traveled artist living from coast to coast in the States. Anywhere I travel my first mission is to find the local art galleries. I love being exposed to new techniques and mediums. I have taught all ages from youth to elderly. I’ve worked with children and adults with learning disabilities as well as elementary to high school students. I

My classroom enviroment includes a structured classroom where students are welcomed and provided with clear, consistent expectations. My classroom environment  is predictable and organized which creates a calm atmosphere that supports focus, engagement, and meaningful learning. My goal in the classroom is for students to experience art as a natural extension of themselves. Students learn about late and contemporary artists with a brief history lesson and fun facts at the beginning of every art project. Each lesson meets NYS standards as well as incorperating studio habits of mind.

Outside of the classroom I perform an array of different art mediums, my business is ArtC. I do oil paintings of people’s fur friends to abstract compositions in oil on canvas. I also do multi-media texturized works, I have a dog collar line (Coco Lococo) and I use resin in a variety of ways. I love to travel and do art shows wherever I can. I enjoy art as a therapy tool as well as exploring all the creative possibilities for a project and seeing what others create.

We cultivate an environment where creativity flourishes. This curated collection reflects the holistic journey of our students, showcasing technical skill paired with authentic expression and meaningful inquiry into the studio habits of mind.

Habit 01

Developing Craft

We focus on learning to use tools, materials, and processes effectively. This habit aligns with NYS Standard 1: Creating, ensuring students build a robust technical foundation through holistic exploration.

Habit 03

Envisioning Progress

We encourage students to mentally picture what cannot be physically seen, bridging imagination and production. This habit supports NYS Presentation standards by planning artistic intent and execution.

Foundations of Growth

Habit 02

Engaging & Persisting

Commitment to solve artistic problems is at the heart of our pedagogy. Students learn to see projects through to completion, embracing challenges as essential steps in the constructivist learning journey.

Habit 04

Reflecting & Connecting

Through critical thinking and self-evaluation, students connect their work to broader cultural contexts. This alignment with NYS Standards for Responding and Connecting fosters a deep, holistic understanding of art.

Our Philosophical Canvas

At ArtC, we champion a holistic pedagogy that transcends technical skill. We believe in building constructivist teacher-student relationships, where inquiry and discovery are the primary tools for growth. Guided by the studio habits of mind, we foster an environment where every student learns to envision, express, and reflect on their unique creative journey.
